So I had the ultrasound today. It is confirmed that I tore my hip flexor. The good news is that it is a partial tear, and should scar over and heal. The bad news is, no running for another 4-6 weeks. Yuck. The ultrasound was cool, especially for an anatomy dork like myself. The neat part about doing the ultrasound as opposed to an MRI is that you can contract the muscle and see what happens. Since I couldn't get the pictures I drew a wonderful interpretation of the ultrasound on Paint.

Some may laugh at my artwork, but this is pretty much how it looked. The right muscle fibers were all lined up in neat rows and contracted in an orderly fashion. The left was a mishmosh of disorganized torn fibers with some contracting and others going askew. Diagnosis confirmed.

According to your drawing, I see why you are in pain...ouch!

This is way better than an ultrasound, because it contains your priceless clinical interpretation right underneath! Somebody get Dr. Hall a white coat and a stethoscope!
Get well soon homie. And btw; I hear South West Pennsylvania is a great place to recuperate...
