Fathers Day-Train style

For Father's Day this year we decided to do something a little different...well sorta.  You already know that Dennis and Owen are both extremely train-obsessed.  What better to do in that case then to go on a train ride for a fun father/son activity?


About an hour away from us there's a short route called the Attica and Arcade railroad.

Owen and Dennis were in heaven.  He barely wanted anything to do with me this day, which is unusual for him.  He wanted to share the experience with the true train enthusiast I think.

We boarded the train and off we went.  The ride was about 45 minutes total, mostly through fields and some farmland.

There was an open car in the back where Owen enjoyed watching the track and the smoke billowing up into the trees

On-board entertainment

They stop at a train station to turn back around and let everyone off the train.  They had hot dogs and drinks available too.  Seeing as it was lunchtime, we got a little snack.  Owen however, had a mini breakdown because we got off the train.  He couldn't even focus on eating because he wanted to get back on.

He loved the engineer.  He kept waving at him.

On the way home he started getting tired and wanted to snuggle with Daddy, happily riding on the train.

He was able to hold off the nap until the car.
