Last weekend we had the pleasure of visiting our dear friends Rizwan and Tahera in Pittsburgh. Of course, we picked the coldest, nastiest weekend to go but it was well worth it. We drove through a complete blizzard to arrive in Pittsburgh 5 hours later...yes 5 hours!

Dennis did the driving and I was his handy snow companion ha ha! Here I was trying to take a picture of one of those light-up highway signs. It read "Whiteout Conditions, use caution" but of course the picture didn't turn out due to the, well, whiteout conditions. I picked up a few pointers about driving in blizzards and I'll pass this info along to all of you...
1. For some reason, turning off the radio does help you navigate
2. Do not respond to your husband's ranting...he is angry with the snow not you. More arguing and ranting will surely follow.
3. New wiper blades are a godsend
4. Guardrails are a godsend...so you know where the road is supposed to be
Anyways, we arrived safe and somewhat sound and Tahera had a nice hot lunch ready for us. We had some delicious crepes and caught up. Then we went to my new favorite place on earth...IKEA!
I don't know how I haven't found this place earlier. They had stuff in there we've been looking for forever and it's cheap!
Behold...the long-awaited rolling kitchen cart with butcher-block top. I have been wanting something like this for our kitchen for a long time and now we have one. Yay! Yes, I am a dork-but remember Dennis bragging on here about his nail gun ok?
The next day we went to a lookout that allows you to see the city of Pittsburgh. I did not realize just how mountainous it really was there. You almost felt like you were driving in San Francisco...except colder. Here's a few pics from the short trip (it was 11 degrees out!)

We did some more shopping, more eating, and then packed ourselves and our new furniture into the car for the snowy trip back. We had a great time visiting and catching up with our friends. Can't wait to go again!
