Snow day!

Well it's a normal January in Buffalo and as usual we're getting cabin fever here.  This is what is looks like today about 30 minutes ago:

Owen has really been missing his outdoor play.  He got new snowpants and boots for Christmas, so I figured lets go out and play in the snow.  If you remember, he wasn't so thrilled about the snow last year...

This year was a different story...kind of.  As long as he can somewhat walk in it, he's good.  He took a few faceplants and couldn't get up and then he's not so happy.  We took Molly out with us, who is a snow bunny herself, and the two of them had a grand old time.

Hmm mittens smell nice...

Ready Owen? This is how you run around the yard like a freak...

Which made Owen crack up like crazy.  His face is not that red from the cold, it's because he was laughing so hard.

We didn't stay out too long because it was really cold, but it was a good time.  Molly was the smart one when got back inside and promptly took a nap directly in front of the heater

OK I'm ready for spring now!

Poor, sick boy

We have survived Owen's first major sickness.  Last week was a rough one.  On Monday, the O-man came down with a 103 degree fever.  Mommy rushed him to the pediatrician's office where they checked his ears, throat, skin, belly, and everywhere else but came up with nothing.  He was put on a regimen of Motrin around the clock until the fever came down.
That took 3 days (yikes!) He had his 18 month appointment that day anyway, and was still sick so back we went.  He hadn't eaten in 4-5 days besides a few bites of his favorite things, had a mild runny nose, diarrhea, and when I went to get him weighed and took off his clothes he had a rash over his whole trunk.  The doctor came in and said, oh that's roseola.  He had lost a little weight since Monday and then had to get 2 shots on top of feeling crummy already.
Most of you probably saw this on Facebook, but this is all he did the whole week.  Cry, want to cuddle, and cry some more.  I felt terrible for him.  It's the worst when your baby is sick and you can't make them feel all better.  I don't know how parents of children with serious illnesses do it day after day.  I was toast after a week just from soothing and worrying.
By the weekend, he was back to his cheery, hell-raising self.  Kids do bounce back quick, but I may still be a little traumatized ha ha!

See-all better!
I think he has also managed to eat all the food he missed from last week in addition to his normal intake too.

New blog

You will see there's a new link on your right.  This is a link to my new photo blog.  It's a 52-week project to improve my photography skills.  There's an intro in the blog itself that explains a little more about it.  Please feel free to follow it if you would like.  It will be a little photo-nerdy and it won't always be pictures of Owen and our family, but I'm sure there will be some of my favorite subject from time to time.
