Keeping us on our toes

Hello! I haven't been posting much lately, but with good reason. Mr. Owen has been moving insanely fast. He took his first steps, learned to climb the stairs, learned how to flush the toilet (and throw things into the toilet), and how to say "Hi Dada." This was just last week. He also has two teeth just breaking through too. Here's a pictorial of the last couple weeks.Aw, c'mon mom. You know all those towels belong on the floor!2 phones are always better than 1
I will empty this bookcase in about 10 seconds!
Interesting note: He always goes for the "Rapid Interpretation of EKG's" book first, maybe that means he will be a cardiologist? Maybe it's fluorescent orange?

Why yes, my giraffe and ball belong in the bookcase. My binkies also belong in the bathtub, and my sippy cups belong in my bib bin, and my shoes belong in the kitchen cabinets.

Mother's Day

On the eve of my first Mother's Day I am struck with how different this year is than years past. Of course, I always enjoyed doing nice things for my mom and grandmothers on this day but it feels very different this year actually being a mother. I am included in this society of moms and it is a very cool thing.
So what does it mean to be a mom? This year to me, being a mom has been such a rollercoaster of excitement, joy, frustration, sleep deprivation, surprise, and love. My relationships have changed with my friends, coworkers, husband, and even my own mother. Daily conversations have turned into discussions about poopy diapers, sleep schedules, and babyproofing. Somehow my mothers day cards haven't been sent out yet because I can't seem to do anything on time anymore. But I love every minute of it.
I have wanted to be a mommy for as long as I remember. I feel so lucky that we are so fortunate to have such a great little boy that we get to see and hold and play with every day.
I love being a mom.

Weekend Getaway

A few weeks ago we took our first family vacation. We gave ourselves a long weekend and traveled downPublish Post to Pittsburgh to see our dear high school friends....The Parvez clan, the Oldfield clan and Shortie. Seeing everyone brought back a lot of good memories and a great time was had by everyone. Even though we all live a few hours apart and see one another every few months, when we do meet up, it doesn't feel like we have missed a beat.

We stayed in downtown Pittsburgh at the Omni William Penn Hotel, which was a awesome. Owen seem to approve as well.

When we arrived, we were greeted with a yummy lunch at the Parvez's. After lunch we headed out for some ice cream (seems to be a tradition when we go to Pittsburgh).

After getting our ice cream, we head to the park to enjoy the beautiful day and catch up with everyone.

This was our first time meeting Azeem. He is such a cutie.

We help celebrate Arman's 2nd birthday with cupcakes and coffee at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh.

Owen's favorite things were a fish tank.....

Owen also enjoyed the water part of the museum. He thought it was a big bathtub.

But I think the winner's of having the most fun in the water goes to Matt and the twins.

This picture is a picture that puts a huge smile on my face. This is the beginning of a new generation of best friends....just like their parents have with each other, no matter where life takes them.

It was great seeing everyone. We miss you all and can not wait to continue the fun times the next time we all can meet.
