Cabin Fever

Well it's getting to be that time of year when both of us start getting cabin fever. The days are longer, but the temperature is still too cold! We have been busy with work and getting the nursery etc. but are longing to get out the porch furniture and fire up the grill. We have been trying to do some outdoor projects when it's not too cold out. Here Dennis tries to get rid of the thousands of gallons of water on top of the pool cover. We got a lot of snow this year, and when it finally started to melt the cover had a ton of water on it.There's at least one good sign of spring coming. All those bulbs I planted in the fall are making their debut. I shouldn't say all those bulbs, because the squirrels dug up and ate about half of them, but that's another story entirely.
We leave for Florida in 4 days, so I am hoping that spring will be here by the time we get back and then I can quit my whining!

St. Patrick's Day

Well, I know it isn't quite St. Patrick's Day, but we started celebrating a week ago. Mama Hall came up for a visit and helped us start celebrating early by joining Teresa watch me run in the annual Old First Ward Shamrock Run 8K. This is a race I have been doing the last few years. Many of the hard core runners consider this the first race of the season. In the past runners are used to having freezing temperatures and snow. This year, the field was greeted with spring like temperatures, with a cold rain the entire race and a new course. I was pretty pleased with my performance. I finished in a time of 41:02 (8:15/mile pace) placing 744 out of 2897 runners. After the race, we met some friends at one of the local watering holes in South Buffalo for corned beef sandwiches and a cold beverage.Today we attend the annual Buffalo St. Patrick's Day parade. This is a great time, especially when the weather cooperates like it did today.

You must come prepared to this parade...dressed in green head to toe (yes, I have a pair of green sneakers on) and some Guinness.
Tator Tot and Mama-to-be had a great time as well. They had a front row seat, complete with a bottle of sparkling water. After we got home, Teresa found she got a little sun on her nose. Is spring finally here in Buffalo....? Probably not!
If you look closely at the top of each building, you can see that the rooftops are filled with people enjoying the parade.

The nursery is just about done. I still need to do some odds and end things. The furniture should be coming any day. Stayed tuned for pics...I will leave you with this pic:As you can see, there are two different shades of green. The shade on the left was the first color we had picked out, but once the whole room was painted, it made our eyes and heads hurt. So, Teresa went back to the drawing board and picked out a shade that is better on the eyes, which is the shade on the right.

Busy, busy, busy.....

The last few weeks have been pretty busy for us. Last weekend our good friends Riz, Tahera and Arman came to Buffalo for a visit. This is the first time we have seen Arman since he was 4 months old. We had a good time sharing old stories and telling new ones. It seems like it was yesterday we were all sitting around a dinner table for "Tuesday night dinner" telling stories of weekend plans and college life, now we are sitting around telling stories of parent-life. Ah, how we have grown.
Arman and Molly were very interested in each other. But once Arman caught Molly, she wanted nothing to do with him.
It was great seeing you guys and we can wait to see you again.

Early this week, I flew to Boston for a few days to attend a conference for work. Me, and a two other co-workers stayed just north of Boston in a town called Peabody. I have never visited Boston before, but found the city to be pretty nice. It is too bad that that Boston is the home of the Red Sox. And yes...I did wear a Yankees hat while in Boston. I was expecting to be taunted and heckled, but it didn't happen. I was a little disappointed. People in Boston just wanted to chat baseball in general, but then again, the season hasn't started yet.

Since I was there for business, I did not bring a camera, but I did manage to take a picture with my cell phone of my dinner I had before flying back to Buffalo.
Things on the "Tator Tot" front are progressing well. Last weekend we bought a crib, dresser and the paint for the nursery to go along with that lonely glider chair. So you know what have been doing the last few days? That's right....painting the nursery.

The picture below is what the room looked like before I started to paint. Pictures of the finished nursery to come at a later date.
Teresa is at Week 23 and looking great...even though I tease her a little bit, but it is tough love. She is being a trooper as her body is constantly changing, but we both know in a mere 17 weeks it won't matter because there will be a little person looking at us like we are the coolest people in the world.
Oh wait....we are already the coolest people in the world. :)
