A relaxing weekend, what is that?
After roaming around the village we decided to finally visit the Buffalo Central Terminal. The Buffalo Central Terminal opened in 1929 and serviced up to 200 passenger trains a day, which came out to about 91,420 NYC passenger trains that year. After the stock market crash and the Great Depression, the number of passenger trains in and out of Buffalo began to diminish. By 1956, most of the NYC stations were put up for sale and in 1979, the Buffalo Central Terminal was sold. In 1984 the Terminal was placed on state and national Registers of Historic Places. Today the Buffalo Central Terminal is still on the main line and is only 2.5 miles from downtown Buffalo. It is not located in one of Buffalo's nicest areas, so keeping it up is proving to be a challenge for the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation. Every so often their will be different events there to help promote the location and gain awareness of the building in hopes to restore it.
As most of you may, or may not know, I am a train buff. I grew up with trains and continue my interest with trains with model railroading. So to finally visit the Buffalo Central Terminal was amazing. I have posted a few of the pictures that we took while there. The pictures do not do the building any justice.
On Sunday, Teresa and I ran the "Runnin' With Jesus 5K" at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hamburg, NY. This race was the second 5K race of a three race series. This was Teresa's first road race since her hip injury while training for the Buffalo 1/2 Marathon. It was a beautiful day for running. We both had really good races. Teresa looked strong coming across the finish line with no signs that her hip was bothering her. So that is good news.
I took 1:18 seconds off my time from when I ran this course in March, so I was happy about that. And to top off our great races, we both came home with some hardware. Final results are the following:

Welcome to the family!
Yesterday Teresa and I took a ride out to Rochester to visit everyone and meet our new nephew. We spent some time holding him, but all he wanted to do was sleep. He better get what sleep he can. If tradition goes as it did in my household growing up....the second child was never left alone by the first child.....and that even holds true to this day. ;)
